The same wave, only bigger
In each piece the waves change scale as they proceed: narrow where the line begins, progressively wider as it advances. It is the movement of a wave rising as it approaches the shore. The piece has a direction, and the eye follows it from the narrowest to the widest point.
The trough between waves
Between one wave and the next, an opening remains, and light passes through it. When stationary, the design is visible; with movement, the openings narrow and widen, and the piece continuously changes. This is why Laura is recognizable even in profile, where the succession of waves can be seen in its entirety.
